Designed and laid out band's promotional site using PHP and CSS positioning. Wrote PHP script to allow non-coders to upload plain-text files to a lyrics folder and be indexed and searchable immediately. Worte Javascript to validate email addresses and form completion for mailing list sign-up form. Coded Javascript/PHP function to allow URLs to target a specific multimedia presentation to run from a pop-up window once the the multimedia main page loads.
I wanted to build a site without any layout help from images. Background color and text color were to be the only visual organization to all the information on any given page. Text was to be text and images were to be purely illustrative. The main site logo is the only exception to this rule, as it is the only place where text appears in an image and is meant to relate to the context of it's surroundings directly. It also is the only place where a text or image crosses the boundary of its containing rectangle.
Text was also meant to be read linearly and I decided not to use hyperlinked text for this reason. Users can only click a small image link following a paragraph to jump to a new page or related site.
